About 11:40 am on Thursday Sioux City Fire responded to 2103 West 3rd for reports of smoke in the attic. Smoke was visible from attic vents on arrival.
Firefighters had to remove parts of the ceiling to access the attic. They found smoldering insulation and extinguished it. The fire prevention bureau is investigating the cause.
People were home at the time as well as a plumber contractor. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
