Just before 1:30 pm on Thursday, July 19th first responders responded to C38 and Otter Avenue where a 2006 Chevrolet Impala and a 1998 International truck collided.
A release from Plymouth County Sheriff's Office says the Impala driven by a 16-year-old female was North on Otter Avenue when it failed to yield at C38 where the International was headed Eastbound. The driver took evasive action but was unable to avoid the collision.
The Impala landed on its top and at least one of the children was ejected. Injuries to the victims ranged from minor to life-threatening.
A 3-year-old and 5-year old remain hospitalized in Sioux Falls and the 16-year old driver died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. All three were occupants of the Impala.
The occupants of the international received minor injuries and were treated and released from Floyd Valley Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
