Woman admittedly high on methamphetamine leads deputy on high speed chase

Court Documents say a Woodbury County Sheriff's Deputy saw a vehicle matching the description of a suspect vehicle from a drive-by shooting on January 29th near the 2400 Block of West 4th about 1:15 am on Wednesday, January 31st.


When the deputy attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, a 2010 White Honda Civic Iowa License # 526WHI, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. The deputy pursued the vehicle North on Casselman at speeds reaching 62MPH and then East on Military Rd at speeds of 72MPH

The deputy was able to perform a PIT maneuver on the vehicle near the intersection of West 19th and Center Streets causing the vehicle to crash into a snowbank before it landed on it's top. There were 3 occupants in the vehicle including the driver, one juvenile with outstanding Warrants and one other. The three received minor injuries as a result of the crash.

The driver 18-year-old Kaitlyn Schager admitted to being high on methamphetamine, she was booked into the Woodbury County Jail on charges of child endangerment, interfering with official acts, reckless driving, speeding, improper use of lane, 4 counts of failure to stop at a stop sign. Charges are pending on Eluding and OWI pending chemical test results. She is being held on $10,000 Bond with her next court appearance is scheduled for February 9th at 9:00 am
