Arrest made in Lorraine Ave drive-by shooting in Morningside Monday

Court Documents say that police have arrested Caleb Harding in connection with the drive-by shooting on the 5100 block of Lorraine Avenue early Monday morning January 29th.


Police conducted a traffic stop about 10:00 pm Monday evening on the 900 block of 5th Street after observing Harding texting while driving and having an inoperable rear brake light. In the course of the traffic stop, a police K9 indicated to the presence of drugs in the vehicle Harding was driving. A search of Harding and the vehicle turned up methamphetamine, prescription pills, two 9mm handguns, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

Police say at approximately 2:21 am on January 29th Harding and three other people drove past a home on the 5100 block of Lorraine to case the residence. They then drove by again and Harding and another suspect fired numerous shots at the home to invoke fear because of a feud between the parties. Police found that bullets penetrated the siding, windows, and doors of the home. Four people were home at the time of the shooting, no-one was injured.

During the traffic stop Monday evening, police located 2 9mm handguns, magazines and 40 rounds of ammunition. Police found the rounds loaded in the guns matched those found at the scene of the drive-by shooting.

In addition to the firearms police located 1.8grams of methamphetamine, plastic baggies, a digital scale, and one Alprazolam prescription tablet. During an interview, Harding admitted to selling methamphetamine.

Caleb Harding, 18 was booked into the Woodbury County Jail and is being held on $150,000 Bond. He's charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent, two counts of carrying a concealed dangerous weapon, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of prescription drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and, improper rear lamps. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 9th at 9:00 am.

Police are investigating an overnight drive-by shooting on the 5100 Block of Lorraine Avenue in Sioux City's Morningside neighborhood.

About 2:21 am on Monday Morning January 29th police responded to multiple calls of about 15 shots being fired at a home on the 5100 Block of Lorraine Ave. Police located shell casings and evidence that a home's exterior had been shot at. No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting which remains under investigation.
