Just after 9:00 p.m. on Monday evening police and emergency services were called to 20th and Grandview for reports of a car crash.

Sergeant Judy Kellen told us that initially, reports indicated as many as five teens were reported to have run from the scene but returned. Kellen said all occupants were minors and at least 2 received serious but non-life threatening injuries in the crash that was believed to be caused by “inexperience” and “speed”.

A black Chrysler 300 was South on Grandview Boulevard when it lost control at the intersection of 20th and Grandview and crashed into a parked SUV that spun around hitting a maroon minivan that was also parked. The Chrysler continued down the road before coming to rest on the opposite side of the street on the sidewalk. A witness said she observed the car driving at a high rate of speed up and down the road before it crashed.

Sioux City Police were on scene until after midnight investigating the crash that Officer Lori Notlze says damages were estimated at about $20,000 dollars. She says a 14-year-old male was the driver and was cited for failure to maintain control, driving on the wrong side of the road, and not having a drivers license.
